Title: Raffle closed because of Ban

Message: Had a raffle going but got banned and it seems the raffle was closed. So I am redoing it. It seems the ban was a misunderstanding, I must have accidently checked it as recieved (that happens from time to time on bigger raffles, that I click too fast and get the check for the wrong person. Because it is hard to keep track of everything I delivered and didn't I thought I had given him the item and since I couldn't check due his profile being private I unfriended him. It was (and still is) unnecessary to post hateful comments on his profile. He should have tried contacting me (like posting on my profile here or something) but he was not in the wrong to report me so please leave him alone (and an apology for any hate given to him from you already would be appropriate.) It's a shame that people get banned that easily without getting a chance to explain themselves but that is not his fault. This has made me consider endorsing rep reqs which I have been strongly against but for now I am still going to keep my stance against them, I am however going to put one req on this and all future raffles: You must have a public profile to win since the only reason to have a private BP is that you are a scammer.

I was mistaken. It wasn't Pootis, it was Russle Crowe, as you had mentioned earlier. I hear your statements and am considering them. I do agree with you on the whole private backpack thing. I can say that out of all the people I have met online through steam with private backpacks/inventories/profiles, only 1 was not a scammer.
If you choose 10 people at random with public profiles and 10 at random with private profiles there is going to be a higher percentage of the private profiles that are scammers. Also since people (douschebags) put rep requirements on raffles to keep "leechers" from winning even though they might just be someone who recently started the game and you can't make raffles with a private BP making a req for no private BPs is a better way to keep real leechers from winning.
We better report him, guys..
I m a scammur. repurt me
So.....anybody that has private profiles in general are scammers? Seems legit..
Hopefully I will win this one :D
Thank you for nice raffle!
The only time I had my bp private was to hide a birthday present(it was a very obivous one, even if unwrapped). It was a pain to use tf2r back then, though.
not to get*
I kept my bp private for some time after i got scammed to not get more attention...Then realized there are still ways to see through this defence, and said fuck it.
And you say someone with a lower value backpack might appreciate that RL more? You are right, but your no 0/0 prevents any new players that would really appreciate it from getting a chance at winning it.
Or maybe I am new, I've been playing for 2 weeks and decide to open a few crates. I get lucky and unbox a 10+ bud unusual, now I've got that expensive unusual and about 20 items that I mainly use in game, what the hell am I supposed to raffle to reach the "rep" (notice I put rep in quotes as it is not any meaninful type of reputation, rep concerning TF2 is an SOP rep thread and nothing else as far as I am concerned) that you require in order for me to get that weapon I so badly want?
Also if Pootis was doing this could you please link the raffle as I will need to remove him from my private raffle group.
The problem with BP value as rep is this: I buy a burnging TC and a couple of other burning hats (using my hard earned money) now the value of my BP is astronomical, why should I have to raffle off more than the next guy to win a raffle.
Well, rep is inherently not fair; poor people will generally have less than rich people (exception; guys with 10 Unusuals who raffle a few weapons). And if you pick a short raffle (a few minutes), and keep refreshing so you can see all rep changes, you will see that there's always some sort of downvote. Which is absolutely and completely wrong. At this point, people don't have arguements and yell 'lol y u care about repz', well, some people have left the site over getting downvotes... For making a 5 minute crate raffle. Or a weapon raffle. Or whatever. There is really no reason for (negative) rep to exist. At least, i can't think of a practical one...?
Not everyone is bad, just look, 9,318 times, someone has thought about you and clicked a button to let you know about it. 9,318 times someone didn't click the red button. Not everybody in the world is an a-hole. I think the ref value is a valid idea because it prevents people from just sitting there collecting things that others are giving away. It is a flexable rep requirement that is fair for both the newbie and the experienced player/trader. Someone with a full BP probably doesn't NEED another strange rocket launcher, and someone that just started playing would appreciate it a lot more. That's all. Not arguing with you, just looking at it from a different point of view. Btw, thanks for the raffle. Cool stuff being given out as always. :)
Thank you.
And this is a good example, I just got a minus for this raffle, why? There is nothing wrong with it but people give me negative rep because they are assholes.
V I've seen Russle Crowe do that twice today. That is the worst and stupidest rep req. Just because my BP is bigger means I need more "rep". All that means is the person with the larger BP spent more of their own money on the game and why should I spend my money just to give you greedy assholes the things I buy when someone else spends no money so they aren't expected to give anything.
I'm not big on rep requirements, but I saw someone, Pootis the English Dragon, I think, that said rep req should be your the total value of your bp in ref, as calculated by http://backpack.tf - If I do a rep requirement, this will likely be what I use.
Again, thank you.
I once met a really cool person because I had a public backpack, he wanted to trade his high-5 for the crate #30 I had and I messed with him for a bit but it turned out he really didn't know the price and so we are now friends and he unboxed an unusual, TL:DR, I like public backpacks.
Unless you juggle it between private and public when needed, but most likely what you said.
Actually that's another good reason to make no private BPs a rep req (aside from most private BPs are scammers) if you have a private BP you can't make raffles so you are most likely a leecher.
It's still a nuisance and having a private backpack would have no negative sides, except... not being able to use outpost and this place.
As far as people who add randomly and beg for items, the remove friends button isn't hard to find (unless your brain doesn't function correctly)
If you would just offer what I am asking for I wouldn't have to look through your BP to find something I want.
And if someone makes an offer that I am not going to accept what is wrong with saying I am not interested but if you add "item I want from BP" I would take it. I am in the wrong asking for something else even though you made an offer other than what my trade said I was looking for? Kind of a stupid philosiphy.
I see both sides, seriously think that when you're being pestered by someone snooping around in your BP that person should be penalized, more so if it's done repeatedly...
I have a public backpack, with every strange weapon (except festives and these new robot stranges), many hats, some unusuals, occasionally buds/bill's, and an alt that I store a lot of items on and I have not had the problems most of you claim to. I however never trade with people who have private profiles.
What Fshracr said. A bunch of people on my team ended up having to set up an alt account so they could trade without people asking for all their stuff all of the time.
Know that feel, it was a fucking nightmare back when I had buds.
Yesterday I had some random dude friend me. After I accepted his friend request, he got in chat and started bugging me for my strange scattergun, he thought I was stupid enough to trade it to him for a strange detonator. I should probably make my backpack private as well, it's not the first time someone has begged me for my strange scattergun.
I've considered getting a private BP for several reasons that are not conisdered scamming. 1. too many people fish for sweets by looking though my BP, when I'm fairly firm on a price ("please add x item to the trade and we have a deal" when I have no intention of selling that particular item) 2. Too many times I have expressed an interest in a high valued item or offered x keys/metal on an item, and the response I get is that "lol, don't have nearly enough metal to buy that item" or "are you trolling, cause I look in your BP and you don't have nearly enough to pay" when in fact I keep 90% of my metal/keys in an alt to save on BP space, and always have enough currency to pay for the item. If my BP was private I wouldn't have either of these problems.
I dont get why you dont want people looking at your stuff. They are pixels that dont matter.
hay guise wut do u get for raffling hurr durr
Riles, first parenthesis should close after person.
Glad you're back <3
Profanity I agree with you 100%. It's really not anyone else's business.
I like people looking at mah shizzle. That's why I don't flush the toilet. I just snap the handle off.
But where's the closing parenthesis, I can't find it
I'd have a private BP, if so many useful websites didn't require it to be shown. But I am neither a scammer nor I have any intention to be one, I just don't feel comfortable with people looking over the shit I have!
I almost cried when i saw you banned.
that.. was sad¨
very cool story
