another option is to install another cheap hard drive (an old one or something) wipe it and install linux and boot from that drive in the bios, or use a usb bootable hard drive, few gigs should work

some use virtual servers, and install the linux in a virtual drive, and run it there, some version of windows had built in virtual drive programs
